Pastor John Hawkins
Pastor John is a Licensed Local Pastor serving the Green Mountain District of the New England Conference of The United Methodist Church. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a Bachelor’s Degree in Operations Management in 1992. He graduated from The United Methodist Local Pastors School in 2019.
Pastor John has served churches in southern Vermont, including St. James UMC in Proctorsville (July 2020 – July 2024) and Church of the Wildwood UMC in Chittenden (July 2022 – July 2024). Before becoming a pastor, he served as the Christian Education Teacher at Springfield UMC (July 2010 – July 2020). While in Springfield he continued his education by attending many Lay Servant / Lay Leader courses within the Green Mountain District and received his Lay Speaker Certification.
After spending almost 40 years working full time in the secular world managing auto parts stores for Consumer Auto Parts and NAPA he spent the last few years working full time for United Construction and Forestry and part time at O’reilly Auto Parts both in Springfield VT. Pastor John has stated he “retired” from the secular world and is now committed to full time ministry. His first full time appointment is serving Elmore, Worcester and Wolcott United Methodist Churches. In July 2025 Adamant United Methodist Church was added to Pastors appointment giving him a four-point charge. The churches currently meet at 8:30 Elmore, 10:00 Worcester, 11:30 Wolcott, and 4:00pm Adamant.
Pastor John lives in Morrisville with his 11-year-old German Shepard, Champ, who attends all four services on Sunday. Pastor John’s adult daughter, Rachel, still lives in the family home in Springfield.
